The tasting contest Great Taste was hosted in London from March through July this year.
Within the scope of gastronomic competitions, over 500 judges, among which sommeliers, restaurateurs, chef de cuisine, restaurant critiques and retailers were grading in the blindfold more than 12.7 thousand products and beverages out of 100 countries across the globe.
It is the second year in succession that Matsesta tea factory participated in the contest. The producers presented four types of tea to judges.
– Kuban products were denoted as elite. Following the outcome of the contest, black hand-picked tea was awarded the highest prize «3 stars». Besides, three positions were awarded one star each. This is also a tremendous achievement since this appraisal appeared to be the highest in this category, commented in the regional Ministry of Agriculture.
The international contest Great Taste was created for the support and mainstreamification of high-quality products across the globe. The appraisals of this group of experts are the most reliable accreditation in the area of natural foodstuffs.
As a reminder, the world northernmost tea is cultivated on an industrial scaled in Kuban. Six enterprises are engaged in its production and packaging.
Previously, by the initiative of Governor Veniamin Kondratyev a regional draft law «On development of tea planting» was adopted. A term «Krasnodar tea» was introduced in it. Those producers who solely use a tea leaf cultivated in the region are empowered to inscribe this name on the packaging. It is planned to approve the standards of «Krasnodar tea» at the federal level until the end of the year.
